The way you have worded your question, doesn’t make sense…
Did you mean to ask… Why do couples get a divorce?
I will assume that is what you meant…
I guess the most obvious response is that couples get ‘divorced’ because their marriage has failed.
If things have turned really bad in the marriage, and there doesn’t appear to be any chance of making things work out for the better, then people will choose to divorce each other, rather than having to spend the rest of their lives ‘being miserable’ together !!!

It depends on the marriage. I married my husband after 7 years. Less than 6 months into our marriage, his father died. My husband has turned from a loving, affectionate man into a hostile, unhappy person. He refuses my help, any help from friends or family. He will no longer see a professional despite the visible help he was getting before he decided to quit. How long am I responsible to be unhappy and miserable because he gave up? He is clearly in crisis. It's true that this would be considered "Bad Times". Who can say when enough is enough? I guess the answer is if you haven't been in their shoes, you can't understand what was actually happening. I know that I think about splitting up all the time, he's pushed me to my limit in all the ways that count. Yet, I still love him, I still want to make things work, I just don't know how I can if he doesn't want to get better on his own.

The reason I got divorced after 10yrs. is because my husband cheated on me. That was clear from the beginning of our relationship that was one thing that I would never be able to deal with. And he cheated among doing other things that I did not agree with. He is now in prison and hasn't saw our son in over 2yrs. That is one reason why people get divorced...And a whole lot of other reasons.

They couldn't find solutions anymore.
What's funny is that when you really decided to get married to the right person, you should have accepted him/her in as much as her/his imperfections. That's love and that will guide your relationship all throughout!
