I'll be 7 months pregnant on Halloween, and I'm looking for something inexpensive to do. I'd like to utilize my big, round tummy if possible. Do y'all have some good ideas?

Apply fake hair to your belly and face. Wear a half-shirt and unbutton your pants. Wear one of those beer bottle holder hats and carry a bag of pork rinds. Make sure the shirt has a football logo on it.
Oh - and drink something carbonated so you will burp a lot.

Costumes for Pregnant Women
From Robin Elise Weiss, LCCE,

Fortunately there are very few times in our lives where we are asked to don costumes. There are a couple of occasions that come to mind like Halloween, masquerade parties, Mardi Gras, etc. Finding the right costume can be troublesome for anyone, but throw a pregnant belly into the mix and it can get really interesting.

If you find yourself in this predicament, or you just want to have fun, here are some ideas to help you find the costume that works for you!

A Full Body Costume

You may decide to wear a full body costume. This can be a character that is a large character or one that can be made large. Ideas that have been passed around include Humpty Dumpty, Big Bird, an elephant (Sorry ladies!), or even a Weeble (old play toy from the 70s). Check with your local costume store for availability and other ideas.

You may be forced to use whatever they have available. The sooner you go the more selection you are likely to have, particularly around Halloween.

"I enjoyed the ability to dress up like a pregnant nun! How many times in your life can you really pull that one off," asks one mother of two.

If you wear a full body costume it is important to realize that you run the risk of overheating. Be sure that you have air flow through the costume. Drink lots of water and minimize your time spent in the costume. Also be sure that you have good vision if a mask or hat is involved. Be sure that you feel stable in your costume, remember, when pregnant you are more likely to fall.

Smaller Costumes

Wearing a smaller costume may be easier and can usually be made from items around your home. You might dress up like a baby, a cheerleader, witch... There are many more options with homemade costumes. These also are usually less likely to cause you to lose your balance or overheat.

"My baby was due October 21, so we bought a tiny Halloween outfit. Unfortunately he didn't make his appearance until after Halloween. We used the outfit anyway. I pinned it, head down, on my outfit and used the time trick or treating to encourage labor..." reminisces one mother of four.

The Belly Costume

You also have the option of painting your belly and using it as a costume. Some people paint it like a pumpkin and pretend to carry it. One woman dressed up like a witch and "carried" her pumpkin with her. You can do the same idea with a basket ball a beach ball, anything you might "carry" with you. You can also simply paint pictures on your belly for fun.

No real warning associated with this type of costume except to ensure that you use paint that isn't toxic and doesn't aggravate your skin. This is also a great idea for kids to help with!

I'm trying to figure out what I'll go as too -- but I'll only be 4 1/2 months, so I don't think I'll paint my tummy :)

I was thinking of the movie Aliens...rip a shirt on the tummy, get some goo and half a fake alien so it looks like it's crawling out of you...

That's the best I could think of. A friend of mine went as a very pregnant bride and groom with a "just married" sign on the groom's back.

Me too! 31 weeks on the 31st of October:]. I see you and I are both excited. Well I don't like to reveal my costume, but I know what your in for a big situation. I am going to be a fallen angel. Still sexy and dark, most fallen angels are. And my fiance will be the devil. "The devil made me do it" If you aren't trying to match then you can be anything you want, as long as you can make it yourself. Buying a couple sizes bigger does not fit a growing belly. EDIT: Gabby, your ignorance is showing. The point of dressing up on Halloween was to scare bad spirits back to hell. It is not childish. Are you saying my grandmother at 92 is childish? No. She believes it actually sends bad spirits back to hell. Its called being Pagan. If you are going to act like a child who obviously is against Halloween, then don't answer her question. You don't need to be a douchebag about it. Next time there is a pregnancy Halloween question, exclude yourself because the answer you gave is childish. And uh. You suck at life. Hahaha EDIT NUMBER 2: Thank you so much Gabby for the "terrible email." You get so offended by me that you call me names through an email. You are a loser! And a reported one at that:]

Get an oversized cardboard box and paint it up like a milk carton. You can cut out the front to show your belly. On the front you can use the words "Got Milk". On the back you can put the nutritional information chart.

If you don't have the time and or art skills to make the carton then just get a shirt that says "Got Milk" and cut a (1) gallon milk jug so it will wear as a hat.

For something different, embrace your pregnancy full on, and be

dressed as Dracula's future mother or something like that.

As long as you're not superstitious about your baby.

The pumpkin thing has been done to death. - I've also seen a woman dressed as a football player, with her belly painted as a football. Looks good if your talented.
