Sometimes I 'scissor sister' two books together so as not to lose my page, if there is nothing else to hand, but it can be somewhat confusing to remember which book it was that I was actually reading when I pick them up later in the day!...

I usually read in bed and when my bf comes to bed I can never find it. I used to always use a bookmark type thing that came with my birth control pills but since the IUD I use other stuff.
Usually I use the slip of paper that reminds me when the library book is due back but I've also resorted to using a Kleenex.

i dislike the conventionalism of ready-made bookmarks. usually i pick up random scraps of paper to use as bookmarks, the receipt of my book purchase or i rely on my memory to find where i last read

Sure do, I use a wallet size of my son's photo. It was
his baby picture, 1 year old then, my favorite one of them
all. He has one a little baseball outfit with a cap & he is
laughing in the picture. Over the years I have made
dozens of wallet size copies and lamentated them.
I have them everywhere and anywhere. LOL
Brings me lots of smiles and joy, that photo does.
Great question
Have a great day.

Anything close at hand.
Dollar bill
Old receipts
Movie stubs
Nail file
Ruler
Half a greeting card
Dog leash
Motel door key card
At one time or other just about used everything flat.

I use a dollar bill...that way, when the book is finished, the dollar just goes in my wallet. When I get a new book, fish out another dollar!
