Since DVD hold up to 4 gigs of info is it possible I could make a dvd full of music to use on my laptop so I wouldnt have to download music to my laptop?

Yes, you can, but remember you will need to play that CD/DVD a device that does plays a DVD format, otherwise a car or home system, may not recognize it.

Yeah sure, you could write music to a dvd however make sure whatever you are planning to play this music dvd in, it can read dvd's. Also the songs have to be converted in to mp4 format otherwise it will not burn properly. Some computers will do it automatically, some won't. Consult on google how to convert songs into mp4 format. You should be able to download a free program off of google or something. But yeah 4gbs is alot of space, up to 1000 songs will fit on it. It's probally a good idea not to put songs on your laptop because they take up alot of space.

Yes. You can write files to a DVD just as you can a CD.

of course! a DVD is 4.7GB, against a mere 700MB for a CD.

just be aware that not all laptops (maybe yours, maybe not your friends') can read DVDs.

I store all my backup photo library on DVD if I used CDs it would be too large

fill it up with MP3's (about 4500 minutes worth in 128 Kbit)
and install WinAmp
