I recently stored left over tomato sauce in a new tupperwear container. When I went to use the sauce, I noticed that the acid in the tomatos had marked the plastic and no matter how hard it tried, couldn't clean the container. Any help how to clean the stains and better yet, how to prevent ruining any more.

I let mine soak in 1/2 & 1/2 mixture of peroxide and water. Spray them with a non-stick cooking spray such as pam and they won't stain again!!

No help on how to get the stains out, but to prevent them either put the in a container that is not clear plastic or spray the container woth non-stick cooking spray before you put the tomato sauce in it.

Wet the inside of the container, pour out remaining water. Sprinkle dishwasher powder all over the stains. Leave this overnight, reapply and then wash in dishwasher.

I've seen products on the market to remove these type of stains, Target probably has something. Another option is to use that dish only for tomato based products.

In the dish detergent asile in the super market there is product that is made to clean plastics, now I am not sure if it is just for plastics cleaned int he dishwasher, but I am sure ir would matter if you used it in the sink. I would tell you the name but If orgot, but look for it is says for plastics. This may help. Then I would coat the plastic containers with oil or use a cooking spray. This provides a barried for the tomatoe satins.
