It will seem odd until you get out of that tunnel your're in.
Once you get a little perspective, you'll see that oil prices are simply following an established pattern that repeats every year in North America--yes, even in Canada where they couldn't give a rip about our November elections.
By the way, when they start going up after the election, don't congratulate yourself for discovering the next big conspiracy. That too is easily predictable due to traditional demand for heating oil.

The candidates for office in the Republican Party are getting their contributions from the high prices we paid for gas back in the summer. Why else do you think prices went up. Now they go down to show their compassion.

Yeah - I've been noticing the same thing. And I am quite certain that this IS NOT A COINCIDENCE!!! Our current illustrious leader and his handlers are totally connected with Big Oil.
20 years from now when historians finally write some good - impartial chapters on this time - I believe we will be even more horrified than we can even imagine at all the "S**T" that has gone on behind the scenes. And how close we are to losing forever "democracy".

Not too much. Oil companies give 75% of donations to Republican candidates and they know that gas prices are hurting their boys. They need to keep the Republicans in power to ensure that American tax dollars continue to be funneled to big energy in the form of tax credits and subsidies for underperformance.

It's space aliens that did it.
Another conspiracy, wink, wink.
If you are serious, just watch some business programs on TV. Or read about how pricing works.
Or, just take a short course in Basic Economics.

Drat! You've uncovered our Victory '06 plan! We were trying to make you think that President Bush is too stupid to eat a pretzel, but you had to go and uncover the fact that he sets the price of gas at his daily staff meetings. Thanks a lot for blowing our secret, dude. We'll pay you back, though...

No, the gas companies happened to find just a whole ot of gas hanging about and realized they could sell more at a lower price.
Collusion? Cabal? Confabulation?

Start saving.

Historically , gas prices go down this time of year , every year .
It has nothing to do with politics or who's in office .

Saudis paying Bush back. Saudis are refusing to cut production even though demand is abating. This refusal to cut is causing the price to decline further and faster.
