When we receive in a shipment our distribution center keeps the packing slip on file. How long do they need to keep these?

For IRS purposes you need to keep invoices 7 years, but packing slips serve no purpose after 1 year.

Once your company has taken delivery of an order the packing slip can only be used for internal record keeping.

BY "taking delivery" that is the point where your goods in or post department signs for the shipment, any checks concerning contents/damage should have been carried out before then.

That normally depends on company policy, I'm assuming.
Probably up to 3 yrs, or until it breaks.
