liberals believe the government is responsible for the people.

For the most part, Democrats are more liberal, while Republicans are more conservative. Look up important issues to you and see where each party stands. For instance, Republicans are against abortion while Democrats are pro-choice. Ironically, Republicans are pro death penalty and Democrats are not. Both however involve killing another. So which is right? That's up to you to decide. Most of the time, one party has a stance on a certain issue and the other has an opposite stance. I could go on and list a bunch of issues, but it'll be more fun if you learn about it yourself.

Krissy,
Republicans vs. Democrats how does one start and keep it short? I can't.
Democrats and Republicans want many of the same things like good health care for all, great jobs for all, to protect the ecosystem and many other good basic goals. The problem as I see it is how they go about getting those results. Lets first take protecting the ecosystem for an example. Democrats seem to not want to allow big oil and natural gas companies to go to protected areas [basically anywhere] to drill for our basic needs for energy and want to set restrictions so stringent that it is not economical to produce at a reasonable rate to consumers. Republicans want to drill everywhere with fewer restrictions but seem to want to still protect the ecosystem. Next lets take jobs and health care as an example. Democrats want good jobs just like Republicans the difference is Democrats want to increase the payroll tax and make health care a social program with even higher taxes. Republicans want lower payroll taxes and want to keep health care private. How does that effect you? If you take a look at the national tax average you will find it at about 35%, with the Democrats this will increase to about 55% or more to cover tax increases and health care, higher inflation plus a larger government to implement it, with the Republicans you will get more tax cuts, keep health care private, lower inflation and a smaller government, keep more of your earnings so that you can help those who are in need. It should not be up to our government to provide everything for us, its up to us. The government waist between 70% and even up to 90% of every tax dollar for administration of necessary programs, that doesn’t leave much for those necessary programs and people that really need assistance.
And no I am not a Republican or a Democrat, I am a Conservative, which means I vote for the best conservative person that is running for what ever office no matter what party they are in. We the people of this country must rid ourselves of this idea that party affiliation is the only way to go. We must see the truth and understand the truth. We must learn to separate the facts from the political agendas of the media and our government. We must be Americans first.
The credible sources you are looking for are all over the web, just take a look, don't forget to ask yourself when you are trying to understand what you are reading, who, what, when, where and why... There is so much more, I hope all that read this will understand and invest more time into understanding how our system of government works and make good choices not only to help yourself but others. Believe in yourself. Please VOTE...

what label you put on your self makes no difference. the one thing i ask is that when it comes time to vote you do your homework on the candidate. informed about the people running for office will serve you well. being a member of either party matters only in ideology.

I commend your folks for being able to exist under the same roof. You need to go with what is right for you. We can't tell you, well....we can.....but you shouldn't listen to us. There are points from both sides. Personally I align closer to the republican party because it keeps more money in my pocket, stronger family values, self reliance, and promotes more equality amongst all races in America just to name a few.

If you are going to work for a living, and wanting a better life for you & your family, vote Republican.
If you are going to try to live off other people or go on welfare, vote Democrat.

There used to be a difference, but these days, they're all nuts. Why even vote - they don't count them anyway. ;-)
