My thought is how can you effectively be a police chief if even the hint of impropriety exists?
"Chief, cancel my ticket or my Friend will post your wife's picture all over the Internet."
"Chief, I think some evidence is about be lost. Other wise my kid will show your kid what mommy does during the day"
While this types of situations may never happen, there is the chance it will. So every situation, every decision has to be questioned and that is not effective police work. I think it was a good thing he stepped down.

I think he resigned out of shere embarrasment, I don't think it was the rite thing to do, however it would have been a play anyone had on him which could weaken his ability to uphold the law.

I think he avoided a lot of controversy and saved the PD a big headache by doing so.

No i don't think he did anything wrong. We live in a free country. She could have a little bit more respect for her husband. She was also in jail for drug related crimes.
