In fact the name is an homage to the classic rock and roll song, Boney Maroni which was a hit for several classic acts including Showaddywaddy who were very popular in the band's (Boney M's) native Germany.

good question that - I know the story of Duran Duran / spandau ballet / Stiff little fingers / mott the hoople / sham 69 etc. but don't know this one - will be interested to know the ansa - keep me posted
