moisten a chamomile tea bag and place it on his eye... it will help to sooth it.

He might have Hayfever. Try Clear Eyes. Its really works for Red & Burning Eyes.
If its not Hayfever. There could be something stuck inside his eye.
Get him to wash his eye out with water.
If thats not the problem. He'll have to Contact his Doctor.

If he wears contacts, it could be a corneal ulcer...there's really no way of knowing without going to a doctor though.
