The music list does not take up memory, nor does it take up space on the hard drive itself. The list on Media Player does not slow down your pc. It's the actual music files. The only way to keep your free space is to stop downloading mp3's to your pc. I would suggest looking into other reasons as to why your pc is running slow. Maybe a memory upgrade, or changing startup options on a few programs. Also, filesharing programs consume tons of memory while they are actually running, so if you're using one while trying to surf, check email, etc... Don't, because you'll get frustrated everytime!

If you are downloading music files from the 'net I suggest burning the ones you want to keep to a CD and then delete the songs. Do this each time you have a certain number of music files stored on the harddrive and you shouldn't have any problems.

Why not compress the folder. It wont solve the problem but may help for a while. Highlight the folder then go properties. On the next icon click advanced and then compress data. Oh I forgot to mention that's in XP Home.
