Well, for the summer months, I agree with your question. However, now that autumn is approaching I re-joined the gym. I would go for runs around where I live but now the days will start to get shorter and the weather will be changing too. If you are a lady then you don't want to be jogging in the park in the dark in case some psycho gets you. The other problem, the weather: you don't want to get blown over by gale forces as you do your jog nor do you want to get absolutely p1ssed wet through. So the gym is a safe option, even if you sometimes need to drive there to do your workout.

Or just do that exercise and miss the gym out all together. I think it's all about appearance and vanity. To say you go to the gym is apparently to "IN" thing but to be seen all hot and sweaty exercising outside would simply be embarrassing wouldn't it? I think people just need to stop being so vain. They'd save loads of money and probably benefit more from exercising in the fresh air than in a hot stuffy gym where the air is filled with the stench of other people's BO...doesn't sound so glamourous now does it?!

Well, I drive to the gym because it is in town. I drive there after work and then I go home. I live about 20 miles outside of town. I only run about three miles a day, so that would be too far.

That makes me laugh so much, they work those bodies out to an inch of their life, come out, shower, jump into their cars, off to the pub for several pints and a curry and go do the self same thing all over again the next night, amazing.

Cause they are daft.

They can make excuses, e.g. the roads are dangerous (because of the car drivers), the roads can cause injury to cyclists (because they are in such a bad way because of motor vehicles) and it is unhealthy to cycle (injesting toxins from motor vehicles), but if they are daft enough to pay money to a gym, they are daft enough to ....
