As far as I know there have been few if any health issues with the BCG vaccine.
It is used to prevent TB which is a potentially fatal disease.
One reason TB is a problem is that it is often detected late and the damage it cases cannot be repairs.
Luckily it does not occur much in the UK and US however there are certain areas where it is now making a comeback.

It can be given to newborns and children. In the UK they will automatically ask to give the BCG if there is a reason to do so.
You can also elect for you child to have it.
Please talk to your doctor or hospital about this.

For my part I generally believe in mass vaccinations. Please take note that the autism link has never been substantiated.
There were also some worries about mercury compounds in vaccines.

See what you can find out and make an informed decision.

Good luck !

The BCG vaccination is given to all babies at 4 months old in Japan. This has been the case for over 50 years. There have not been any problems caused by it as far as I have heard.

BCG is the vaccination against TB. It is not given to the general public because we do not have a TB problem. It is given to health care workers who work with TB patients. Sometimes it is given to a group of persons who were exposed to TB. So the answer may depend on was the baby exposed to TB? If so then the doctor should make the decision. But if there was no exposure, then the answer is no.

I read where people thought vaccines caused autism due to one ingredient in the vaccines. The government removed that ingredient and the vaccines are supposed to be safe now. This article said to only get one vaccine at a time and not let the clinic or doctor give them more than one vaccine per visit. Then monitor your baby for the next couple of days.

There is so much the government is hiding from us regarding the safety of vaccines and drugs, you really don't know who to trust anymore. Well meaning doctors may have also been coerced to keep quiet about potential dangers of vaccines and drugs.
