I do not know the answer to your question, but I have seen ample evidence of it. I think most Muslims are reasonable people, they go to work, support their families, and wish no harm to anyone. However, we do not see any major outcry against terrorism from this community in general. If Christians were blowing themselves and others up in the middle of the streets in Damascus, or Beirut, the world would be screaming. Need evidence of this just look at the outcry again the Israelis in the last Lebanese conflict. Not taking a stand makes many people distrust the followers of Islam. I am not condoning this position, but we cannot deny that it exists, and that it is not good for the Muslim community as a whole. By not speaking against bad behavior in the name of their religion it equates to acceptance in the minds of many non-Muslims. If the world is ever to come together the diologue needs to change. At some point everyone is going to forced to take a stand publicly on the matter of terrorism, including other Muslims. When that day comes, the consequences of not taking a stand are going to be worse than taking a stand supporting it.

Why do some Christians claim they do not support killing, yet they never stand against it?

Strange I was wondering the same.

Every month, there are tens of people menacing publicly various parts of the planet in the name of Islam and calling all muslim to djihad. Strange that no "moderate" imam would never do a public call to condamn this.

Also, they claim that Islam is the religion of peace, but when someone says :

"Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul," or "it is evil to spread the faith by the sword", then even the most moderates are protesting, even if this is a mere quote a 14th century emperor...

Very strange. I think that we both missed some point... Oh or maybe it's because the first one who was spreading by the sword this peaceful religion was you-know-who...

Edit: I 100% agree with byrose, vote for him.

Do you personally know a person of the Muslim faith that claims this? What sort of stand would you have them take? What stand are you taking against killing? Posting an inflammatory question on Yahoo does not count as "taking a stand".

I am not a Muslim, and can not give you an answer from there point of view. I can say this why do you care? We are all human, we all have our beliefs and stands in life. It dosnt matter what country or religion you subscribe to. We all emotions of Fear, hate, Love, and wants and desires. So to answer your question, why do you claim things and then dont take action, somtimes it is out of fear of what the out come will be, sometimes it is nobal like protecting those you love. To be blind, and say that our country is free is living like a fool. No country is truly free, we all have to live according to the group mentality, no matter what kind of political structure we live in.

The majority of muslims stand against killing by saying so and by not killing. It's always good to remember that some Christian presidents who stand against killing in words, actually kill a lot of people.

Take care!

i think the muslim community as a whole is very aggressive and its mentioned in thier holy book that whenever and wherever islam is in danger they should take up arms to protect it and this fact is being misused by some .the millitants brain wash the minds of young muslims that islam is in danger and they r told that they will enter heaven if they kill themselves for this cause(fidayeen).
however there r moderate muslims also who dont believe in this but they r silent because they r scared that they will be isolated.
its upto to the muslim clergy and the muslim intellects to rectify this.

Good question. I think it's because in the quran, it CLEARLY says that they must spread their religion no matter what (even if it means 'with the sword'). I didnt want to believe this until i read the quran. I agree with what Bryrose said.
