Of course. The thing that scares me is the young men who look to hip-hop stars as father figures. There's a whole theory behind that, and it's not mine.
You can't blame music for the problems of the young, that starts with parents who are the biggest influence in a child's life.

Music has always influenced teenagers. Music has always been full of hidden messages, only now, it is straight to the point....no beating around the bush about what is meant.
Peers are more of an influence to teens than music.
Parents should make sure they train a child properly, so that a simple song does not influence them to do stupid or illegal acts. In other words, when I hear a song on the radio which supports a wrong act, I explain to my teen that the artist is sending out a very bad message.
There is a song out now about girls coming of age, and the singer is telling them not to give up their virginity....now this is a good influential song!

im with most artists when they say, music doesnt have influence on people. its the masses and peer presure that has more affect on the teen daughter then a couple of lyrics. when teenagers latch on to a music genre its often there choice based on what there lifestyle is like.
would i care if my teen daughter saw that? no not really, teenagers are teenagers most of them mature enough to see the difference if you educated them on the matter....

I firmly believe that it is offensive!!! to me, as well as my parents! It is just plain WRONG! I am a daughter, and it offends me!! VERY MUCH! It is the one thing that keeps me from dating black guys. I am not a THING, (rhymes with 'witch") to be used and played with! And not all cops are bad, either! Women are not "bitches" to be used! We are very real human beings with feelings, goals, and desires to make the lives of others better! As well as our own. So, to answer, yes.!! Kids ARE influenced by today's music... IF U can call it that!!! And NOT for the better!!!

teenagers are influenced by the whole entertainment industry, but especially by music and the performers. Most kids decide what to wear, based on what their favorite performers wear, so if your daughter and her friend's faves are dressing like sluts, then they will too. If her friends are allowed to and she can't, peer pressure will out and she will fall by the wayside with most of those friends. The only way to avoid this is for her to outstyle them, and take it down a notch in a hipper way and with her own flavor. Then she might be accepted by her friends for her originality, and set a few style trends of her own. But when teens start emulating the behavior of their fave performers, look out,as anorexia and bulemia are all the rage, and being too thin is in. Keep an eye on your daughter's eating habits, if you know some of the parents of the friends she stays over with ,call and ask them what she ate while there ,portions as well. As a parent, they will understand this. I wouldn't do it , though , until you notice a sudden weight loss, or her skipping meals, or eating less. Then I'd ask around and also check to see if she is eating meals at school. If other mothers are noticing the same thing, get the moms and daughters together for a group discussion, based on love and tell of your concerns for their health. Also , remind your daughter of how many young women get kidnapped ,molested , raped ,or killed every day, and that dressing like a slut, is going to increase her chances of attracting the wrong kind of person. Tell her that guys usuallly expect a girl to put out, if she looks the part. Also, I would make sure that your daughter knows about safe sex,and how to use a condom, and how easy it is to get pregnant. Most of the pop and rap songs today, are about having sex, sexual relationships, and are very descriptive. It is considered the new romantic song . Most kids think they know about sex, but unfortunately most don't have a clue about it and the consequences, and responsibilities involved. Get your daughter informed. If you are uncomfortable talking to her, or aren't sure of all the information yourself, set up an appointment for the both of you, with your gynocologist telling the doctor, what the appointment is for. She can talk to you and your daughter in an informative and unbiased manner , that will educate both of you, and open your daughters eyes to her role as a woman, and as a role model to her friends. Unfortunately the music industry is out to make a bundle , and nothing sells more or faster, than sex. Also, if your daughter is going to teen bars, places that have a chem free night for teens, check it out on the sly, or have a friend do it for you. Go later in the evening after things have got going, and first observe the activities going on outside of the establishment. If you notice a lot of teens coming out and going to a particular vehicle briefly, then it could mean they are purchasing a drug of some sort. If you notice older guys driving up and chatting with the younger girls and even one girl gets into his car and goes off with him, report it. It is suppose to be for kids only, no adults should be hanging around the premises accept parents picking up their kids. If the kids are going out back of the premises and then returning a while later, chances are they could be drinking, smoking cigarettes or doing drugs out back. Report any of these to the authorities. If you have a friend with a daughter , whom your daughter doesn't know, have her go in to check the behavior of the kids inside. With the dances they learn from the videos, sexual moves on the dance floor are not uncommon, even teens get into lap dances, and consider it hot . If the action in the place is seeming to steamy and the supervision is nearly nonexistent, then be leary of letting your daughter go there unless she is with someone you can trust to look out for her. My niece had something slipped in her soda one night that made her very ill. Date rape drugs aren't just used by adults, but by older teens with raging hormones. And listening to hot lyrics while gyrating in a sexual manner, can lead to a sexual encounter later on. Don't get scared, get smart. She'll love you for it later.

Well, look at the music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Did they influence you? Are you still a drug addict? Do you still sit on the couch and smoke pot and attend demonstration rally's? That should answer your question.
This too shall pass.
