Write a copy down and date/sign it. include as many details as possible then seal it in an evelope and post it to yourself. Dont open it when it gets back, just keep it.
That's proof if anyone nicks it that he came up with it first.
Use a jiffy bag or something that you can tell has not been tampered with.

The best and legal way to copyright your tracks is to sign on with the MCPS (mechanical copyright protection society)..and the PRS.(performing rights society ) This alliance will guarantee copyright and also make sure you get money every time your music gets played/performed wherever in the world. Musicians who are serious about their art are signed up. I think there is a fee..so check out their website. Once your music is registered with them..it's water tight.

Make 2 copies and post one to yourself via recorded delivery. Keep it sealed and if you hear anything like it, if it goes to court you can prove the date it was written before and that that is the music.

You could also pay to keep it in a vault or pay a solicitor to keep a hold of it

In the UK, we seal an envelope with the work inside and post it. The postdate is stamped with the Queen's authority, so it is taken as gospel by Courts.
And the word is copyright.

You mean copyright.

It means you OWN the rights to copy the material.

Copywriting is writing copy for advertising and other promotional use.
