Currently, it's not things found in outer space that help improve peoples' lives but rather the advancements in research and engineering which support the efforts to travel to and work in space that provide the benefits to humankind. Aspects of technology which are utilized in other disciplines, such as medicine or manufacturing, are called 'spinoffs'. Teflon is an example of a material we use now but was developed during the early space program in the 1960's.
The technology that allows quadriplegics to steer their wheelchairs by moving their eyes is also a spin-off developed in the 1960's. When a rocket is launched into earth orbit, the acceleration is so great that the astronauts have difficulty lifting their arms to press the necessary buttons or flip the necessary switches. During the early space flights, a system was developed where a harmless beam of infrared light was pointed at the astronaut's eye such that the beam would be reflected back to a particular sensor when he moved his eye a certain way (such as looking at a specific target on the control panel in the space capsule). When a chosen sensor detected the infrared beam, the sensor would then activate a circuit just the same as if an actual button was pressed or a switch was flipped. When the space capsule was equipped with this system, an astronaut could 'flip a switch' or 'press a button' without ever moving his arms. This same system has been improved over the years and is used to help people who have been paralyzed in car crashes regain a greater degree of mobility.

That depends on yuo definition of outer space. If you mean "space exploration", then there are more answers than you can count.
If we spotted a meteorite heading for Earth, we could use rockets to deflect it and save us from destruction.
If we study other planets and learn how climate works, we could find ways of saving our planet from global warming or eventual ice age.
Satellites in orbit are taking pictures of hurricanes, so people can seek shelter ahead of time.
If a very nasty virus was to develop, it could be that the cure may be synthesized effectively only in zero gravity (we won't know until such a virus appears, which could be never).
Even now, there are experiments being done so that a specialist surgeon could operate on a patient on the other side of the world, through robot arms linked via satellite.
If you define "space" as anything but the Earth, then most of what exists is out there, not in here. If we have a problem here, there is more chance to find a solution there.

Space exploration may be able to save lives on Earth for a variety of reasons (Asteroid deflection) but it may have a more important function of saving the people OF Earth. Right now Humans have all their eggs in one fragile basket (Earth). You need to establish viable breeding populations away from the planet (farther away the better) in case a disaster ends life on Earth. Unfortunately you are passing the point where you can allocate enough resources to accomplish this. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

Weather satellites provide real time warnings for tornadoes, flooding and hurricanes to allow people to get out of the way or take cover. Communication satellites allow for emergency 911 calls to save the lives of people when they are injured or sick.
Raw materials on asteroids, moons and other planets will help to replenish the earth's rapidly dwindling natural resources. Other planets can be terraformed to allow people to live there. The earth can only support so many people before global starvation starts to settle in.
If we are wise, we work to prevent problems like that before it's too late.
Joejoey: No one says that there are no habitable planets in our galaxy. We just haven't found any yet. So far the only planets we have found are Jupiter sized planets. There could very well be an earth sized planet near a star only 5 lightyears away, but we just can't see it yet.
And just because a planet is not habitable as it is, doesn't mean it can't be adapted for living. The moon and Mars and even Europa are good candidates for adaptations or terraforming.

The way it has been saving life till today. The life on earth mainly depends upon the space. The sunlight comes from space, the earth pass through and live in space etc. And space only can save the life when earth fail to sustain it.

If Outer space becomes habitable or if we transform ourselves to survive in outer space, it can save us the living beings on the Earth. Ofcourse, for this to happen, living on earth must become highly unsafe.
I don't see all these happening in the near future.

Space can remind us - that if we look at ourselves from that perspective (looking at outselves from outer space) we seem like one big blue, white and green marble, changing constantly. If we take the persepective that we are one organism, or one cell (the further back you go in outer space, the smaller we will look), you will discover from that perspective that we are but ONE particle or planet. Outer space reminds us, just like one cell in a human body, that we are but ONE organism all linked - if humankind understands this, then they would stop looking at someone else as 'someone else', they would recognise that they were looking at another part of themselves. If they recognised this....they would realise that if they ever attacked.....they would only ever be attacking themselves. This is the truth of us, and if we all knew it, it would save us.

They say that there are no habitablr planets in our galaxy, so we would have to travel to another galaxy right? So the nearest galaxy to us is andromedia galaxy which is supposed to be 2.2million lightyears away. thus we would have to travel for 2.2 million years at the speed of light to just get to the rim. My calculation would probably tell us that we would'nt even get to the other side of our galaxy with out failure. it wont happen in our lifetime sweetheart.
