My friend is fat and short. What would suit her best? As in colours, lines, prints and texture of clothes.

Depends on her skin tone black is always slimming, for fall green's, brown's.....

Nothing to fussy, clean lines. Boot cut pants that are longer with heels to make her look taller. V neck tops to show off her chest...

Its all about trying stuff on. It has to be cut right. Tops have to be the right lengh

Honey, there are many kinds of fat, and many kinds of short. Is she an apple, pear, or hourglass? Longer torso or legs? 5' or 4' 3"? Overall, ruched dresses make all tummies look better, and A-line skirts are flattering on most people.

You better tell your friend to wear loose pastel colored soft textured blouses up to her second hip. Remember no to tight fitting ones. Also try to tell here not to eat sweets and no to cakes and pastries as well as carbonated drinks. Drink more water and young coconut juice. No also to ice cream. Tell her to control herself because it's a voice of experience. Because I lose weight from 75 kilos to 60 kilos in 3 months now :)
I hope you don't mind my pieces of advice. Do be of good cheers for soon enough, your friend will also lose weight.

Vertical lines or solids, pointy toed shoes to lengthen legs, v-neck shirts, no spaghetti straps. Clothes need to be tailored to her body.

you're small and skinny so in fact something might healthful you. attempt skinny denims to intensify your skinny legs, and outfitted tops with ruffles or sequins to entice interest on your small bust and make your boobs seem greater suitable. in case you somewhat short on your age, attempt heels to spice up your height. to intensify your small waist, placed on cropped tops or severe-waisted denims, or trench coats.

For the best reccomendations, it would help to know more about her body type and coloring. There are several different body types:

A-Frame/Triangle/Pear - Smaller shoulders and bust with wider hips, butt, and thight. These women look best in brighter colors on top with darker colors on the bottom. Nothing slim fitting around the hips, stick with more flared and looser fits. Don't tuck or belt shirts and dresses at the waist. Empires and A-Lines look best. Add detailing at the top and away from the hips. Don't wear jackets or tops that have a lower or dropped waistline that falls across the widest part of your body. Stick with either shrugs and boleros to keep the eye up, or a longer jacket that falls to the knees or lower.

Cone/Inverted Triangle: Wider shoulders with smaller butt, hips, and thighs. These women need to balance their body in the reverse. Keep it simple up top, and bolder on the bottom. A-Lines and swing skirts to add more width on the bottom. Don't wear pencil skirts, they emphasis the narrow bottom and wider top. Go with darker colors on top, and lighter on the bottom. Avoid shoulder pads, double breasted jackets, cap or short sleeves, off the shoulder tops, or anything that draws the eye up. Stick with 3/4 or long sleeves. Add some patterns on the skirts, or a belt that sits low on the waist (but not the hips) to draw the eye down. V-Necks and scoop necks draw the eye in, boat necks and halter tops add bulk. Wider legged pants can help balance her out.

Hourgalss: About the same size shoulders as hips, smaller in the waist. Draw attention to your overall shape with belts, tucked in shirts, and tailored clothing for your curves. This is the easiest shape to dress, you can wear just about anything! Avoid empire waitslines, off the shoulder tops, and very wide bottoms, they tend to make you look out of balance.

Round/Apple: Wider shoulders, waistline, hips, and butt, often with shapely legs. These women are from the thighs up are about the same size. One "round" shape on top of the legs. These women need to add some curve without adding size. Slenderize the neck with V-Necks and elongated necklines. Keep collars and lapels narrow and small. Longer tunic tops will help to even the upper body out, and draw attention to the legs. Avoid fitted tops, bulky skirts, wide belts, and oversized tops. Emphasis the legs with shorter skirts, capris, and straight or boot cut jeans, avoid the flared and bellbottoms.

To add height:
Monochromatic colors work best, the same color on top and bottom. Shorter hemlines that fall where they are supposed to, avoid overly long jeans, pants, and skirts that fall on the foot unless pairing them with high heels. A mid thigh length to above the knee skirt or shorts works better than below the knee or calf length. Avoid horizontal stripes and patterns, look for vertical lines, like pinstripes. Look for flowing styles that don't cut at a part of your body line. Look for bias cuts and tailored styles to keep the eye moving. Don't break up the line of your body with lots of colors or patterns.

To Look Slimmer:
Similar to dressing for a shorter frame. Stick with smaller prints, vertical lines, and tailored clothing. Big, bulky styles add weight, they don't hide it. Avoid boxy jackets and blazers, they tend to look masculine. Wear darker colors instead of pastels and brights. Look for neutrals to blend well with your body tone and shape. Avoid stiff and heavy fabrics like tweeds and wools. Stick with light wieght blends that flow with your body, not against it. Rayon and nylon blends are great for this. Make sure to try on clothing before buying. Any improper fit (too tight or too loose) will only add the pounds. Stay away from low rise bottoms. They push the skin out in all directions, they don't hold it in. Get things that fall right below the navel to help hide the belly and love handles. Stay away from sleeveless shirts, halter tops, or anything that shows too much skin. The more skin is on display, the heavier you may look.

This is just a short list of tops and ideas. If she wants more specific, then you need to post her coloring, exact body type, height, and frame. As long as this is, it's not even 1/2 of what can and can't work for women.
