I quit smoking on Monday, so far not doing too bad, really hard at times especially with the noisy neighbours over the road who are constantly screaming at each other, it makes my stress levels go through the roof, I have decided the best thing to do is to count to 10 really slowly and that is helping, for some strange reason I always lit a cigarette when I was about to make a phone call, I have found that a bit hard this week, I'm not a drinker so that is one thing in my favour for not lighting a ciggy for the first drink, my cravings have only lasted a few minuets each time so I have done the counting to ten thing and I'm also finding that a bit of lavender oil sniffing is helping too, I am so determined to do this, were going to Australia at Easter, its a long way to travel without a ciggy and no one in my family smokes over there either, its better on my pocket so far and soon, my health too.

I have quit smoking, will be three weeks come monday. There certainly is times when smokers need a ciggie more than others.
I found that the first one of the day was the most crucial...followed by ones that proceed meals. You get into the habit of these ones.
I'm from Scotland and I used to work in a pub...now we cant smoke in pubs and it is brilliant, and this was my feeling when i was smoking, because when it was allowed ,anytime i got bored i would spark up. Lots of people worry when they quit about smoking when they are drinking...the smoking ban helps alot in this matter.
I have went cold turkey and havent had any lapses...basically i thought myself out of it... When you smoke ....you always want another ciggie either immediately or later on, whe you quit u do still crave nicotine...so its really the same mind set...except your not killing yourself and throwing money down the drain.

I tend to smoke when I'm bored. I'm not addicted to the nicotine, it's the physical habit of having something in my mouth. I also smoke a lot when I drink simply because I do not like the taste of alcohol so it helps with the harshness of it. I do tend to smoke a lot when I'm stressed too. I don't know if it really calms me down or not, but I know that inhaling the smoke makes me feel better. Unfotunately, I enjoy smoking!
