I believe a paraplegic would feel all three. Physical pain would be obvious just after an accident, mental pain would come from the realization of suddenly being paralyzed and social pain would be caused by discovering things that previously could be done, had now become a major problem to achieve.

Have you ever met a person who has crippling arthritis? We aren't talking about some joint pain here. Its the kind where you cannot walk, move or even wipe your own butt. The physical pain is 24 hours, relentless and goes on for years until you're dead. It brings with it all other kinds of mental anguish.
That disease just about covers it all.
All the rest pale in comparison.
Can I think of something else now?

From experience I can say that the most painful thing is to lose someone that you have loved too much. Nothing is more painful than that. It is causes physical and mental pain.

The most painful thing in this world is when we have to watch a loved one pass. The second most painful thing in this world is watching our children in pain. The third is the loss of a beloved family pet.

Mental pain hurts worse. Physical pain, while unpleasant, is limited, and eventually ends. The loss of a loved one, the end of a marriage, or dreams lost, can hurt your soul.

I think the lost of a child. You feel physically sick, emotionally sick for a very long time. And socially sick because many people don't know what to say, and if they do say the wrong thing, you may retaliate in anger, because anger is easier.
I hope this helps.
