Easy the cod. Not because they're better fighters, but Captain Birdseye would be in his corner ready for him to tag into the ring. And Captain Birdseye makes fish pay!

It's difficult to imagine, but an adult cod is several times the size of a mackerel. The mackerel would have a huge advantage in terms of speed and agility, and might be able to deliver the odd bite here and there, but all it would take from the cod is one lazy shake of the head and snap of the jaw and it would all be over.

My money is on the cod I'm afraid.

Though of course due to overfishing there are no adult cod in the sea, only puny teenagers. So maybe the mackerel is in with a chance after all. Don't forget that mackerel swim in shoals so if all the mackerels' homies got in on the fight the cod (adult or no) would be a goner. On the other hand, don't cod swim in shoals as well? Jeez, could be like a fishy world war 3!

Without forethought or malice, the Mackrel Cod and his band of Hardhat Herrings, will in time, as we all know, set up a most dastardly plan to rid the world of the mighty Cod.

Quiet it shall be on the road south of Scuttridge, "I'm in awe of these hills and all their sides and stuff." said Barry the Mighty Cod God, he had fingers and thumbs like, smart stuff that other fish could only dream of. He skipped along with a song in his heart "Send baaaack, a letterrrrrr frrooooommmm Am ericaaaaaa..................and I would walk five hundred mile and I would walk five hundred more, just to be the cod who'd walk five hundred miles..................."

Unfortunately there was a Welcome Waiting in dem der Hills with Sides. Twas the Mackrel Cod! Dada! He was singing to a different tune "Underrrr the Boardwaaalllllk, dooowwnnnn byyyy theee seaaaaa, I'll be huggin and kisssiiinn with my baaabbyyyy."

He was a bad mo fo, and his mates were well Chav.

Anyway, it kick right off when Bazza got the the grassy Knoll where the Mackrel were a hiding, upper cut to the nuts from the Mackrel, counter Tw#tting to the chin from Barry. They fought like trojans for a week and a deadlong, in the last round Clubber from Rocky III came along and in a Mr T Stylie lamped the pair of them and out they went, bugger!

So to answer your question, no-one actually knows, but next time round my cash is on the Cod! COME ON!

I think the cod, but are they in the same weight category? The mackrel would be a welter weight and the cod a middle weight?

Obviously the cod would get battered
