Political Correctness has put paid to freedom of speech. I hope that will change when we have a change of Government, but I am not sure that it will. Just look at what happened during the Home Secretary's visit to London's East End yesterday. I will always speak my mind and face the consequences. If people don't speak up there will be nothing of our country left. I already have trouble recognising it these days!

Being an american I can say that things are far worse here. Freedom of speech only exists here for thost that agree with the current regime. All others are taking their chances on being harrassed as inciting rebellion or being terrorists. Freedom? I don't think I really exists anywhere anymore, even the idea is frightening to governments that they have to find way to make freedoms illegal without specifying those freedoms. Sad but thats the way it is...

All that is restricted is inciting hatred or violence towards eg gay people, disabled people, Romanies or black people. i.e. oppressed and disadvantaged groups. This is as a consequence of strong civil rights movements demanding equality before the law and the Human Rights Act 1998.
I do not see that there should be any dispute over that: everyone musr have equal rights, including the right not to be abused or attacked for who they are.
More worrying than fears about political incorrectness upsetting some people are the efforts of religious groups to suppress freedom of artistic expression, claiming their own "right not to be offended" (there is no such right but they claim one) is more important than othef people's right to say what they think.

the learning Age passed off to it; we've grow to be greater conscious of in simple terms how little speaking extremely quantities to. Supposedly, the rights to unfastened speech and freedom of the click might unfastened us; anybody guy or woman ought to freely say 'the king has no longer something on' and the rest might connect in and that be the tip of that. What the technological connections have taught us is that each of our voices is in simple terms one tiny squeak until eventually it joins a team sufficiently vast to count. and because an incredible type of of the communities are led with the aid of the meanest, maximum formidable and least scrupulous between them, those and submission are the standards for club. Your speech starts to count once you're on board with the haters the rest enable means because of the fact they do no longer want to spend their lives struggling with them. Freedom of speech hasn't replaced the character of means somewhat.

We are free to speak. You just spoke with freedom. Iran will and are loosing their freedom to speak. They are paid to march the streets of Iran. Iran has shut down newpapers and taken the satalite TV away. I think Iran could have civil war before this new leader is ousted. Iranians are loosing their freedom. I haven't heard of this in the UK. The big question is, are you infringing on someone elses freedom when you speak out? I hope you are not loosing freedoms there.

It all depends on the usasge of freedom of speech, no vulgar language not saying that is the case saying it it in a diplomatic way and at certain times is the key. There is a proper way and time to say anything. BB

It is the same in the United States. Two reasons I see...political correctness has gone way too far; and people are willing to give up freedoms for a sense of security.

You still have freedom of speech.
Your problem is that you lack the backbone to withstand those who disagree with you.
The minority has become more vocal and have gotten away with it.
It is in your question...they Re the MINORITY!
You are the majority.
It has become all upside down...like here in the states.

Freedom of speech and spreading hatred are two different things....be sure what comes out of your mouth is freedom of speech and not hatred toward minorities.
