Just a personal opinion but most rap sounds like tuneless wittering to a nondescript backing track.
Still, I suppose it allows the talentless a chance to show their lack of talent to a wider audience.

I realise it's just your opinion that rap sucks. It's my opinion that rap can be quite entertaining, and educational. Yeah, sounds stupid right? But rap, like a lot of popular black music has been a way of conveying stories. Rap isn't all about the bling, hoes, and rides. Take a listen to some Rhymefest, some Talib Kwali, some Jay-Z, some Common (Sense), even some Kanye. Their songs may not be full of large words, but they speak to who they know is listening.

Even in the beginning, gangsta rap was about their lives, conveying their stories.

But anyway. If you don't like rap, that's cool. But show a little respect for it.

I agree... I think the closest to "talent" is when someone makes up rap on the spot- impromput stuff- that does take talent!

I like songs where the lyrics are actually sung, not just shouted...

I like lyrics with adjectives that have a little more variety than f----ing...

each to their own. i used hate it for years but i got back into it. i
still love dance and rock music though. differant music for differant mood.
i guess u only listen to rap that is played on radio. westwood has single managed to get people to hate rap. i prefer zane lowe taste in rap though. eric b and rakim were amazing in their time and atm i am loving people under the stairs. british hip hop is proving to be amazing and i would love to some british mc's getting some love by americancs.

That, and the odd truly talented rapper does show up every now and then, talent and especially lack thereof are all over music. Indie, too, yes.

i think music is an art, a way to express yourself-
people like eminem use rap to get their point across
lost prophets use rock
and other bands like westlife use soft ballads. although i prefer Rock music i do respect other peoples styles and methods. lets face it we would be boring if we all liked the same thing

I have been saying it for years. It has no musical value and requires no talent at all. It's a way for morons and criminals to become famous.

I had this sign on stage doings Disco's years ago and it worked.

Please do not ask for C/RAP
as a refusal often offends.
