If you are going to be a bakery in the volume business (i.e. Buns, Bread, rolls for retail distribution) invest wisely in your supply chain and quality control processes.Ultimately your profits will be tied to speed and quality.
If you will be in the custom quality business ( fine cakes, cookies, unique baked items) do not underestimate good PR firms and buzz. Clever branding and memorable marketing tactics will identify you in a competitive field.

Well it would depend on the quality of the food that you make and also the way in which you present the food. Personally I believe that it is a very profitable one to run, but it takes time for people to realise that u are the best.

yep. as long as u can manage to keep down the costs, its a cash cow.. bakery is a safe bet, as people indulge in pastries every now and then.

If the quality of your products is good, you spend a bit on advertising and there exists only a small amount of antagonism then you have a good chance of making some dough.
