STILL LIFE IN LINE CONTRASTS--

hOMEWORK- COLLAGE TRANSALATION IN ONE STILL LIFE DRAWING

Take a pair of contrasting imagies (these should be on opposite sides of a folded page) from your drawings in class and transalate this pair into collage, paying careful attention to the materials you choose-choose materials for collor and testure. do not use pix of actual shapes (ie) if you want an apple, do not cut out a pic of an apple but find olors and testures simmilar to the apple you are trying to clpy) think about replicating the pair of composition and the tesxtures of the object / drawings.

MY OBJECT IS A BLACK MONOGRAM xoxo BAG WITH RAINBOW MONOGRAMS OF STARS, AND X'S .

I WANT TO USE RICE AND BEADS FOR TEXTURE

ANY IDEAS PLEASE HELP ME

What do rice and beads have to do with an XOXO bag? If you want to ace this assignment, think more about the bag and less about the matierals for constructing the project. XOXO is an abbreviation for "hugs and kisses", so you could cut out things that remind you of that and then form a set of contrasting images... which points to the next thing you're missing: ANOTHER OBJECT. You need something that is the opposite of an XOXO bag, maybe if you have another bag that looks extremely different that would be a starting point. As it is, you need to re-read the assignment and be careful that you're not completely off track here.

I'm not sure that I am totally following this but would suggest you pick a more random subject. You seem to be tangled up with some preconcieved ideas. Maybe if you picked two random objects that perhaps you did not have so much emotional attachment to, you would have more freedom of creativity. Pick 2 subjects and pay attention to what they have in common and how they are different. then begin to swap what they have different. If you are trying to fuse an apple with a shoe for example, try leather texture on the apple and leaves for the shoe. If you want to cut out leaf shapes, make your shapes then find interesting colors or textures, for example fashion mag. with a fur coat, trace the leaf shape on the coat, cut out, then you have some interesting colors and textures. for what it's worth there's my ideas!

The idea is to communicate something special about what you see and experience not just cut out and paste something I was told. It has to be special it has to talk worlds about the object
If it is a bag then it is smooth but when you look at it there is something you like about it the things that pop our at you and you can make larger. This is your communication about it what do you really feel when you look at it since obviously it is only probably a smooth object. You can build up the beads with something like a glue gun if you think it will express these things seem to add weight to what I see and I see them more strongly though the surface of the bag is smooth or you can just do a completely smooth bag but I think that the impact for you and importance is the visual aspects of the bag obviously you like the x's and o's because they talk about love and kisses so you can interpret this as lips instead of x's and o's even lips kissing or cupids it is all and all what you get out of the bag personally I do not think there is anything such a bad art and if it makes you happy do it abstract means taken from the real and you can abstract the idea out many different ways then show all of them in a series about the bag I did that once and got a decent grade for that project as it was a flat photo project of Black and whites of stained glass windows required for one project and it actually ended up looking good because the lines of the windows were very good for black and white as I picked strong simple church windows. I really thought I would not do well on that project but ended up liking it the more photos I took and as I could not pick one I picked all of the best I had taken and cropped and did them to all look similar in size and go well together as a series.
Yeah I agree with the woman below about the assignment and you can do some of it then take it into the teacher to get feedback before the assignment is do. Also just start doing something because you are letting it get bigger than it is. If you turn in something you will get some type of grade if you turn in nothing you fail totally so do something if you do not like it throw it away put it to the side and come back to it. Obviously you are interested in love so why not even do something not about the bag but about love and tell her this is how love feels to me what it makes me think about photos of your parents siblings CHOCOlate I love that too much myself etc. Like she is saying and sees like I see you are drawn to the X's and o's also rice symbolizes marriage to some extent as it is thrown at a marriage so you may relate love to commitment and responsibility the work of a marriage that is truly love it is about energy input into developing it with your children your spouse parents etc.
Smart woman with a good answer below me also.
You cannot really tie love up in a bag but alot of people talk about carrying around a burden such as from a broken heart also which is a part of the experiences and chances one takes with having a relationship. Such as the loss of a loved one etc.
