OK I am just 36 weeks yesterday but the other night I was in the hospital having contractions every 4 to 6 min. They sent me home and said to come back if they are stronger well they have subsided and I only get them towards the evening hours. Any how this is my 4th child and I am dialated to 2 and 40% effaced. Anyone have any idea of how fast things will move along or been through this themselves a month ago I was not dialated or effaced at all.

Hi there..Well, it just so happens at 36 weeks, I too had strong contractions every 2-3 minutes for 10hrs. I didn't go to the hospital but just cause I figured it was too early for real labor. Anyhow, I was also dilated a 2. Since then they have tapered off quite a bit...I only have them in the evenings or when I do too much around the house. I am currently 38 weeks and nothing has changed. My doctor said I could stay like this the whole time. So, in other words, you never know. Sorry that ain't much help. Luckily, I will be induced next wed. for fear of having a large baby. Well, Good luck to you...you're almost there!!!

Hard to know, some are different each time, some- like mine- follow the same pattern and time schedule. What you can do is next time you start having contractions 4 to 6 mins apart is drive over to the hospital and walk the parking lot. If it's important for you to deliver there, best to be in the area.

I don't think you can predict when the contraction is going to get faster. I was 3cm dilated fro 3 weeks before it suddenly got to 5 and I'm having 2 1/2 minutes apart of contraction.
So I guess you just have to watch out for the signs.

seems like the more pregnancies you have the easier they become. i was dialated to 3cm. the last month of my third pregnancy. my advise to you is too get to the hospital as quickly as possible when the labor actually starts because it won't take long like that. i delivered within one hour from the onset of labor.
also...congratulations in advance

well if this is your FOURTH child, shouldnt you kinda know already what to expect?
And maybe you should consult your gyne or doctor and ask for their estimated opinion

Ok, what you need is to have sex with your man, then you'll relax, then you'll have your baby, then you'll be happy. Ron
