Just some facts on Venezuela. Hugo Chavez was elected President in 1998. One of the platforms he was elected on was redistribution of the wealth in Venezuela.
In Venezuela approximately 90% of the countries wealth is controlled by less than 10% of the population. While they now have free healtcare and education, 70% of Venezuelans still live below the poverty level.
If it wasn't for the sale of crude oil to the United States the Venezuelan economy would go bankrupt.

I think it's to mess with George Bush, who undoubtedly encouraged Pat Robertson to call for the assasination of Chavez.

I'm pretty sure he's just referring to Bush as the devil, not the US. I don't take offense to his speech. I hate Bush, too. You can't judge a country just by one person.
