An option to ease tension in the Middle East.
Should Jerusalem be made a city state like the Vatican City State, so all the 3 religions (Christianity, Islam & Judaism) worship together peacefully?

Nice idea if it could work! Making it independant of any religious side.

It won't solve the problem because the Muslims want total control over the city and will not settle for less.
In fact Jerusalem is not really holy to them at all. It was only in the 1930's when the Grand Mufti, a close ally of Hitler, announced that that a dream that mudhamed had was based in Jerusalem. The reality is that mudhamed never came within 1000 miles of the place. It is a political ruse to use religion as an excuse to make a claim on the land.
If you left only the Christians and Jews then there would not be a problem.

it was tried.

when the 1947 partition plan was accepted by the UN Jerusalem was made an international city to be directly governed by the UN so it would not be under any religions direct control.

the partition plan also created the state of Israel and the result was a war that happened almost immediately. So unfortunately even if its a nice idea on paper it has shown that it will not reduce the conflict.

If there was peace in the middle east all religions could share Jerusalem. It is in the best hands at the moment of the Israeli's, if the Muslims win Jerusalem I would think all Christian and Jewish sites would be destroyed to stop them having a claim on the town. Mecca is the most holy Muslim place

the undemanding thought is that Jerusalem belongs to Israel . It took them from the time of the Babylonian exile to get this land back. they are the main persecuted team interior the historic previous of the worldwide. they are the only human beings to have lost their spoken language and then introduced it back to existence ever! This land belongs to them and making the main holy city interior the country a city-state to appease different interior reach peoples is misguided. in simple terms enable them to stay of their land and that they gained't difficulty every physique yet, attempt to take something faraway from them at this factor and you will see why they are the final fielded militia interior the worldwide. i'm no longer a Jew in simple terms conscious of what has passed off to them.

No it wouldn't ease anything it would only encourage fanatical religious types to squabble amongst themselves as usual the only solution is to give the Muslim their fair share of their land, which has been stolen by force by the Jews and allow the Arab nations,[ who want it] , nationhood, It would help to balance the state of affairs in that part of the world, after all why should the Israelis have nation status and deny the same to their neighbours.

Jerusalem is like no other holy city in the world, by the fact that it is holy to 3 religions, so your solution is not feasible.
The only solution is the present one where Jews are the controllers of this city, since non of the other 2 religions, if in control of the city, would be tolerant to the other religions, as Jews are.

yeh it would a good idea but we have to bring the tension down before that so they can interact with each other without hatered.
the better idea it would after the tension calm down to join the Israel and Palestine with each other as one country. so both religion have saying on the holy places in that area.

The rightful owners of Israel is Palestine. Israel is Palestinian land and as a result, Jerusalam belongs to the people of Palestine.

Israel was form in 1948 by the British without the consent of Palestine.

I believe that Jews have the right to live in Israel in peace. Living in a country peacefully is one thing and taking over a country and creating borders without authority is another.

what would ease the tension in the middle east would be to have bush deposed, and all power stripped from the religious fenatics in the US who are responsible for stirring the up the trouble in the region.... apparently they believe that it will hurry the 2nd coming of christ if they can bring about ww3. the irony is that if they read the bible properly, the 2nd coming doesn't actually happen untill 1000yrs after armageddon :) idiots!
