I am from the Caribbean so my superstitions are different to the ones you all are familiar with.
Never put your hand bag on the ground cause you will never have money.
When you go out late, you must walk inside backwards to prevent spirits from following.
Never call out your name loud after six because spirit will hear it and call you to get lost in the forest.
Never sweep your house at night cause you will be sweeping in poverty.
Never comb your hair at night cause you will lose your memory.
Never whistle inside your house cause you will be calling spirits.
That is just few. Hope you like............

For bad luck here's a few...walking under a ladder,breaking a mirror, a black cat crosses your path, shoes on a table, opening an umbrella inside.
Good luck.. Pick a penny up and all the day you'll have good luck.
(only if it's heads up..if tails up leave it alone)
All these were passed down from my grandma to all her kids and my mom will actually turn around and go a different way if a black cat crosses her path. i am not that extreme but I find myself doing or not doing I should say , most of these.

Putting shoes on the table is just unsanitary. The funniest superstition I have ever heard is that if you vote, you will be represented.

Hey Dawn,
I still think that this is the funniest.
I have a good friend that is from India. Whenever he hears something sacrilegious - he will start beating himself about the face and upper torso! Not enough to do damage, but enough to cause a headache!
We have checked with other Indian friends, they have told us that you only do that if "these are also your thoughts".
So for fun, sometimes we will gang up on him and watch him beat the heck out of himself!

I heard one which i dont beleive...
When a black cat crosses while you r going for work,
your work will not be completed correctly.
Also that friday the 13.....
or the no.13 is a badluck no... ......
Or that if a crow makes noises on ur house roof, some guests are comming to ur house...
(I dont exactly know what is crows sound called) ...
if you Eat with the help of left hand, Satan spits on your food every time.
(this is a myth but has point in it... the left hand is used for washing ur Pnis/But after u finish P-ing/Poo pooing. so it is considered unhygenic & nasty to eat with ur left hand.)
And, If you masturbate with ur hands, left or right, hair will grow on your palms.
If you are a great sinner, when u die, ur dead body will be much heavier than normal or less sinful people...

In my area, a superstition was that you couldn't eat peanut butter on Sunday. This was actually put into law in the late 1800's and has never been taken off the books..... :)

I used to have a book called the dictionary of superstitions. it's a great book. if anyone ever sees it, you should look in it. There's one in there that says that if you rub pee on a baby's face, it will prevent acne...What's really weird about this?...It works. There has been scientific proof that pee is capable of that and more. Enjoy.

About broken mirrors, I broke a mirror my mistake and my friend saw it and told me that it was bad luck. But, that it was the best day ever, i got everything i liked and then the next day that friend told me that she broke her leg! it was bad luck for her good 4 me!
