with all the swiftness of molasses I dragged my sorry carcass out of bed. I trudged dolefully to the shower, and stood there, hanging my head to the steam, wishing to god that I was wrong and had today off...

then I bit the bullet, made some coffee, packed a lunch and left. work may suck, but I LOVE the drive there!! (it's a twisty road with not a lot of traffic!)

It's about the same as my enthusiasm for driving 70 miles in heavily traveled interstate and freeway traffic -- which is no enthusiasm at all.

I like what I do so I am not jumping up and down or anything, but I had an appointment early. It was in my old home town where I grew up and it was a beautiful morning drive into Southern Ohio. So I was pretty happy about that. Also stopped to see my brothers grave. This afternoon was much better than anticipated. Had some big wigs come down down for a "meeting" which usually means they want to cut my cut but it didn't turn out that way. My *** is a little sore from having it kissed so much.

You know that episode of the Simpsons where Homer gets terrible food poisoning from eating the leftovers of a giant sub sandwich... and he is supposed to take the kids to Duff Gardens...and he's in the car with his head on the steering wheel...he barely lifts his head up and shouts, "Duff Gardens! Hurrah!" before he collapses...?

I wish that I had that much enthusiasm.

Considering that I was laid off a couple of weeks ago, my enthusiasm to go to work would be so way higher than the average person's...!

There was not a lot of enthusiasm....but to put it in the words of the great Captain Malcolm Reynolds

"I have a strong urge to eat sometime this month"

Enthusiasm for work? I slept through three punches on the snooze button so I could dream about my dead grandparents, a cute girl and some weird creche that we were building.

I don't go to work, so my enthusiasm for it most likely won't begin today!

'We have invented this new past-time called bungee jumping. You hurl yourself into space off this little platform here, a couple of hundred feet over this raging river, and stop inches away from the surface. All that stands between you and certain death is a bit of elastic. We think it could be big one day, but we're not sure it will work. Here's the prototype elastic - you've been selected as our very first volunteer!'

'Ah, great.'
