so crawling upside-down on a ceiling ISNT defying gravity??

They aren't defying gravity, what they are doing is the same thing people who rock climb do. The small cracks and crevices in you wall and cieling are huge to them. Spiders and some insects, have tiny barbs on their legs that can stick into the surface of anything just about.

yes it would be very nice, but nature intended it that way. On the other hand, if humans did those things the world would be even more chaos than it is now. And their actually flying not defying gravity.
