Why? How? What have they done to lose a right that all Americans share? How are you going to define a celebrity? Would a local Celeb be forbidden to run for mayor but he could run for Governor since people on the other end of the state don't know him? What if it's a small state?
Would it matter what they were celebrated for? How about a famous race car driver or stripper? Or a scientist? or a writer? I'm not sure you've thought this through.
Look if the majority of the people of one state wish to elect a bad actor with no experience in government (twice) to run the state, that is their right. They could have voted against Regan and Whats-his-name the Austrian guy who's name I can't spell.
If I was going to vote for an actor, I would prefer to vote for a good one like Hilary Swank.
