Personally, I think that he no longer has the calibre--he's getting old, he's been getting old for years now and he never really was all that fine a player. Also, there seems to have been a bumper crop of young talent recently; Lennon is extraordinary in skill and potential, Walcott promises to be great too, Rooney will prove those high expectations--for him it's only a matter of when. As for experience, John Terry and Steven Gerrard have enough between the two of them. So where does Beckham fit? Logically speaking he's gone.

However, current events seem to have tipped the odds in his favour: Owen is injured--and it could be a long-term one too--Hargreaves is similarly down and out, and so is Lennon though he has a shorter expected convalescence. So David might just have a chance.

Still, he himself has made a statement regarding this and he's not too optimistic. Apparently he's having trouble keeping his place at Real Madrid too.

Aah, the woes of David.

Actually, it's quite sad; when he was young and new he did have potential, but it was never fulfilled. He was too interested in endorsing deodorant and changing his hairstyle...and various affairs. Pity. Oh well, maybe it's a good thing Rooney looks like a pug.

I think David Beckham has about as much chance of playing for England as you have of learning to spell.

How much longer would it have taken you to type 'Do you think David Beckham will ever play for the England team again?'?

I won't even start on your grammar.

with hargreaves and lennon out injured, becks looks england's best bet. if mclaren picks someone else (eg scott parker from newcastle) then becks' career is definitely over. the upcoming match against macedonia is beckham's last chance to make his way into the team. otherwise "bye bye beckham". however the graceful and classy manner that beckham has adapted on this issue (sympathyizing with hargreaves over his injury etc) has won him many new fans.

The statistics are in his favour. With recent injuries to players like Owen Hargreaves, Michael Owen, etc, I expect Becks to get a recall from the coach earlier than would have been expected.

Frankly he is still on top of his game and the interest of the team/coach is success. Since he is not a negative influence, he will be recalled for results.

forgetting about he himself, with that awful injury of Hargreaves & Lennon, does Mclaren have any other choice?(any way heard Owen cant play for 6 months!any recent news?)England is not a small team so it should have strong mids.Till a new guy appears Beckham can b a good choice unless mclaren gets a rabite out of his hat.

He probably will never get to play for Eng again. Hargreaves is many times better and Beckham is way past his prime. Steve McClaren is not Erikson the idiot who doesn't dare to drop Beckham. McClaren goes for the best players

I think his time is up. Unlike Zidane, he didn't was an inspirational leader. And now there was a lot of players in his position who can replace him and make an excellent performance. So, it was too hard to see Spice Boy wearing No. 7 again.

Whoever he plays with, will pay him a lot of money.

He is filthy rich to say the least.

If he doesn't play for England, I won't loose any sleep.

And neither should anyone else.

Yes, I think he is waiting for Ferguson's retirement. He would play for ManUtd again and it would be befit for him to retire in the club which made him Beckham.
