Christopher Reeve of course. He is the one that accompany me through my childhood days. He has that build, the looks and did spent alot of effort acting the role. He had me believing that there is actually a Superman out there coming to our rescue when we are in danger. There is one and only one Superman in my heart.

Everybody is going to say Christopher Reeve, and they're right. But it's too bad he wasn't buff like Brandon Routh. I think the ideal look would be like the animated Superman, someone who is obviously built in the upper torso (maybe like a pro-wrestler), and has a squinty-eyed look.
If anyone could come close to the Alex Ross painting of Superman, then they would automatically beat Christopher Reeve. But I guess he (Chris Reeve)will always be #1.

Thats a tough one.
Christopher Reeve always seemed the perfect Superman to me(hunky, perfectly chiselled face, filling the suit nicely and sharp)
and an equally good fit for Clark (shy, intelligent, geeky cute but, maddeningly bumbling).
Of course this is all true for Tom Welling.
Dean Cain from what I can recall was (perhaps) a bit edgier.
Which brings us to Brandon, this movie was way darker and more in line with today. But he too suited the role. Maybe a bit skinny.
My three points goes to Christopher Reeve (guess there's something to the first being the best).

Absolutely it was Christopher Reeves. He had the height, he worked out a lot for the role so he'd have the build. He had that wonderfully strong jaw and piercing blue eyes....he will always be who I think of when I think of Superman.

The ORIGINAL Christopher Reeve?
Whoa, that's a HUGE amount of disrespect you are showing Kirk Allyn and George Reeves.
If you don't know who they are, you should look them up.
All that said... in my opinion, the "truest" representation of Superman had to be Christopher Reeve.

The best combination of acting and "the look" was certainly Christopher Reeve.
But my personal favorite (and I'm probably the only one) was John Haymes Newton (most famous for "Melrose Place") in the cheesy 80's TV series "Superboy."
The worst: porky, middle-aged George Reeves in the 50's TV show.
