my last period was 18 aug and i have a 25 day cycle.. not had sex since then? so just wondering... can anyone help

Yes but you are at your most fertile mid cycle and are less fertile at other times (note the use of the word less)

There is a small risk of conceiving just before your period, however it is very small. It really depends how regular your cycle is. The normal time for ovulation is around 14 days before the onset of your next period. So if your cycle isn't regular this can be very hard to predict. If you have a very regular 25 day cycle then ovulation is most likely to occur around day 11 of your cycle. However you can be fertile for a few days before and about 5 to 6 days after this date.

I think you can, surely the blood bit of period is the body getting rid of stuff not required by the pregnant body, anything before the bleed must be ready to receive the sperm????????????

yes, and don't think that if you bleed you are not pregnant. I know a few people that have had regular periods the whole way through pregnancy.
