It is not a bank holiday but schools are closed on Friday and Monday, as well as some offices/shops.

September weekend she is right - but only give her the Monday OR the Friday off. it is a Local Holiday only and it is up to your discretion. wether or not you give her the day off ( I know I sound mean.dont I ) Government employess - like myself - are off on Monday....no-one ( well at least I know ) gets both days - only the Kids get the 2 .. I dont think many shops etc.. will be closed..

Me thinks she telling porkie pies...there is no bank holiday in scotland on these two days. If she does not work then read your contract she may be breaking it and you will then be entitled to compensation for loss of earnings if you have to take time off....Contact the National Childminders Association and report it.

Unless its just a Scottish one but there aren't any more bank holidays (in the UK at least) after the late august bank holiday until christmas.

Looks like a local thing. Certainly not shown on any diaries or calendars! Don't let her have both. If you have childminder do you work as well? Ask if you can have days off!
