He/she may already have one or get one soon. But then it will soon change after that and soon change again. Babies schedules change all the time due to things like teething, sickness or even just growing.
Good luck!

A FEEDING ROUTINE?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
Babies that new, early and small should NOT be put on a feeding routine, and not on one for several more MONTHS!
You feed the baby whenever it's HUNGRY, and don't stop until it doesn't want to eat anymore.
Only the baby knows when it's hungry and how much it can eat, YOU DON'T.
Make sure you burp the baby after every feeding, and keep it swaddled, and give it lots of comfort, love, attention and affection.
Another important reason to let them decide when and how much to eat is that growing babies and children go through enormous growth spurts and require MUCH more food and need to eat more often. It's essential for their overall health and survival, and if a parent deprives them of this they can potentially suffer growth retardation, not as high an IQ, lack of trust with caretakers, eating disorders, malnutrition, and much more.
Good luck with being a parent! ;)

Babies may never be on a routine. My son is 6 months old and still not on a routine.
As soon as you stop holding expectations to someone so new that has no idea how the outside world works, you'll be much happier. You're holding an expectation to someone who does not even know what they are yet.

he won't be into a feeding routine for about another six weeks, they eat about every 45 -90 minutes for the firt 6-8 weeks and that time starts from when they start their meal so if your wife starts feeding him at 12;00 he will need to eat again at 12:45-1:30, it seems like all you do in the begining is feed them, feed him when he is hungry don't try to make him wait, a good book to get that helped me a lot is 'my babies first year week to week' it answers every question you will have from how to cut nails to how many hours of sleep they need. also keep in mind your baby will have a series of growth spurts where he will seem endleddly hungry this to shall pass Good Luck and congrats!

If you demand feed, then your baby will get into a routine faster... Just see when s/he is really hung ry and then wait until the next time.
Do remember that there are growth spurts when even a child who has a normal feeding routine will NEED to eat more frequently.

I found, with my son at least, that there wasn't really a routine until he about 1-2 months old. I was breastfeeding and I fed him whenever he was hungry sometimes it was every 2 hrs sometimes it was 3-4 hours. Every baby is different. but I hope this helps.

Have patience! It normally takes them a while to settle down into a routine after the shock of being born! I'd say by 2 weeks old they should be fairly regular, feeding roughly every 3-4 hours.

depends if the baby is being bottle or breast fed breast feeding is normally done on demand so it may take several weeks to establish a routine bottle fed babies 2-3 weeks. Good luck and many congratulations

HA!!!!!!!!
What????
Oh, please let go of that fantasy, and you'll be better off.
Once you get comfy with anything a baby does, they change, and once you feel like you've had enough, they change again. I swear on this.
I am still laughing. Sorry.
This child has been in the mom's belly eating and peeing whenever the need dictates, with no concern to whether or not it may be inconvenient to its parents in the future.
Heck, I don't even have a set schedule, and I'm 39!!

I never put my kids on a feeding routine. They just ate when they were hungry and they always seemed happy with that.
