Actually Hitler -- Aloïs Schickelgruber was his real name -- was not elected. He was appointed. And then he rigged further elections. http://www.lewrockwell.com/hornberger/hornberger100.html
William Shirer, in The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, claimed that Germans followed Hitler because of Lutheran teachings about hierarchy; others have pointed to Catholic teaching about respecting one's "station in life".
Uwe Siemen-Netto, in his Ph.D. dissertation -- I think at Boston University -- and in his 1993 book "The Fabricated Luther: The Rise and Fall of the Shirer Myth" argues that Lutheranism never taught that and that it was not, in fact, the source of German complicity of placitity in respect of Naziism. Siemen-Netto wrote to Shirer before the latter's death, and Shirer couldn't give a credible basis for his statement about Lutheranism: all he said was that it was his personal observation -- i.e., his impression.

Yes. Hitler brought proud and take Germans out of a miserable condition. Things start to go into a bad way only after, but most of people judge not based on timeline but on minimal knowledge.
Christian or any other religions are based in other principles than political leaders. Perhaps you may have not expressed on a good mood your opinion.
People believe in good and bad, but everything is a matter of several layers of gray. History and facts are based on economic, centuries and local culture. There is no isolated fact. always there are dependancies.
Why UK and Farnce said nothing when Germans invaded Polony? Why USA only went to the war after and not before (41 instead of 39) ? Why Hitler arrived to Paris almost without combat? All these events would stop Holocaust and many deaths and surelly if you had the power to stop and did nothing... (but history do no see things in this way)
Ask Why and understand entire whole are better than just use a finger to appoint.

it should have been enitrely up to the christians, and indeed ALL the germans, concionce
some christians didnt. most did
its easy to be wise after the event but at the time Hitler and the Nazis offerred a way out fo the depression and collapse of the German Economy. They appealled to the sense of injustice that Germany and the Germans felt over the reparations and theft of land, and other terms that was forced on them as part of the Versailles Treaty
its easy to get taken in and go with the flow, especially when the information presented toyou is one sided. its always diffiicult to stand up and be counted to go with your concsionce. if you stand up for your beliefs you stand out, you can bceome the focus of ridicule and hatred.
it really matters doodly squat what the bible says, most governments say tax must be paid, and promptly or there'll be trouble.....
democracies dont demand you respect your leaders, they demand that your leaders should earn your respect. You could argue that that is precisely what the nazis did by righting the wrongs of Versailles, bringing their economy out of recession and hyper inflation, stopped possible communist takeover of the nationstate - but then promptly threw it all away with the post 1934/5 policies, others may argue that it was always going to end in tears, that the whole Nazi policy was unsustainable - personally Im inclined to agree

George Bush manipulated an election result to become US president, should people follow him to War?
Hitler was at least legitimately elected as Reich chancelor (even if he then changed the law to remain).
If Bush changed the law so he could stand for a third term {F D Rosevelt did} would US citizens stand for it? How about if he followed Hitlers lead and changed the law so he no longer had to hold elections?
It was also said that all evil needs to triumph is for good men (sic) to do nothing.

It never says anything about obeying secular leaders even once in the four books that "report" the life and death of Jesus. There's only talk about taxes and the laws of the Old Testament; the things about obeying authority come from Paul of Tarsus.

Just like our politicians today, Herr Hitler manipulated the population to believe say and do everything he wanted.
If a similar figure arose who was charismatic enough to take on the problems such as immigration and terrorism, modern Europeans would probably follow like sheep.
Who says you have to interpret every word of the Bible literally?

I did a lot of study on WW2 when I was in high school (too many years ago). When he was "elected" he promised the German people that their economy would thrive and they would be powerful again (after WW1). What he didn't tell te German people was what else he had in mind. Check out my link, My uncle liberated this concentration camp. The Holocaust did happen at the hands of this sick idiot.

The word "was" is relevant here..... bear in mind the bible has it roots around 1800 years ago, things have changed since then. Use your common sense as well as your faith
