I'm looking for any job within a TV company such as ITV or Channel 4 to get my foot in the door. Also i'm interested in writing for a magazine, can anyone suggest anything?

Writing for magazines is pretty easy, I've been published in music magazines, business magazines and even The Times newspaper. All you have to do is write to your market and then submit material - it helps to have some track history, try writing for webzines first (though often the quality control is pretty poor). Then get a copy of The Writer's Guide or equivalent, look for magazines that accept freelance material and then write a piece that matches their market and you should be quids in - or at least only a few minutes from your first rejection letter anyway. It takes time and effort and a lot of re-writing to get things perfect but it is pretty easy to succeed, there are an awful lot of magazines out there - catering for all sorts of interests and markets.

TV is much harder I'm afraid, you'll need to know people in the industry to get any in, at all and I'm afraid you'll probably start as a runner and very, very slowly have to work your way up.

Yuo need to learn about the industry, get trained, get expereince in the bottom feeder companies and work your way up.

quoting BBC in your headline question and then ITV or Channel 4 in your sub-text probably suggests you're not ready yet. BBC and the commercial channels are totally different types of companies

and you say you're looking for "ANY JOB"..So why not join a cleaning company, that'll do it.

Try the BBC website. They have loads of jobs on there. Another way is to apply for Work Experience. I know that Endemol do this and if your any good, they will offer you a job at the end. Again, this will be a good idea for writing for a magazine. Heat do Work Experience. (no spaces untill 2007 though)! Good Luck!

The BBC put a lot of their job vacancies on their website - from security to production.

Keep looking in your local newspaper, as sometimes they will advertise in there. A couple of the magazine publishing companies in the Bristol area regularly have job adverts in the local newspapers.
