Boyfriends cannot have sex with their girl because they are just boyfriends but husbands have every right. Boyfriends can still get off the hook and find someone else but husbands cant, till death do they part (i dont believe in divorce).
divorce makes zero difference between a husband and a boyfriend. if there is divorce, what difference does it make whether you're a boyfriend or a husband when you can end it anyway???

A husband is totally committed to you for better or for worse. He is there for you to support you and love you and protect you. A boyfriend is leaving a door open to get out of a relationship without having to compromise.

I say security, even though I know husbands can disappear. Just knowing that there is a plan for the future allows me to feel a bit more secure. I was married for a very long time, we were together 25 years, but took 7 years for him to marry me and I have to say if you wait that long if one of you wanted to get married, your a bit bitter by time you do get married and there is already trouble.

There is a level of commitment that is varying between the two.
The boyfriend is sure about the relationship to be monogamous until he decides he would (or not) cohabitate with his lady.
The husband is sure about the relationship to say "I'll love you forever." And never plans to leave. And is monogamous.

i think it's the committment. Less likely to run away from someone cos husband is tied down to a legally binding agreement. Also more legitmate reason to have sex with hubby and not get frowned upon.

I would say the commitment. A husband considers themselves commited for life. A boyfriend is free to leave anytime and has not vowed his commitment.
