Absolutely! Then they can take her away to a secret location and Mind wipe her, or replace her with a robot that would be guaranteed to toe the establishment line!!!

Perhaps John Reid had a swig or two before saying anything so absurd,
he is known for having a reputation for his loose whipping tongue and
has offended quite a few of his peers over the years. He is a Scot and so am I, which I mention only to take any blame off the English
since there seems to be a love/hate relationship going on in Yahoo
answers! Forget John Reid, he likes horses (used to be a jockey)
and, as for reporting your son, I have very rarely heard of such
rubbish. Go in peace and take good care of your own family and
do not worry about John Reid, unless he shows up, at your front door, personally, in which case do not let him in.

Intentions and conspiracies can be crimes, so in a way thoughts can be crimes.
Don't know what I think about John Reid. New Labour are pretty nasty and authoritarian. However I'd be concerned if my child had fundamentalist religious beliefs and if you had a loved one that was going to start killing people for their beliefs I hope you would try and stop them.

"What will a ‘hate crimes' law add? Despite its name, it is not ‘hatred' as such that the proposed law targets," said Robert W. Tracinski. "The real target is the criminal's ideas. The proposed law declares that criminals motivated by a government-designated set of intolerable ideas -- racism, sexism, religious sectarianism, anti-homosexuality -- deserve special prosecution and additional punishment."
"A ‘hate crimes' law would expand the law's concern from criminal action to ‘criminal thought,'" argued Tracinski. "It would institute the premise that the purpose of our legal system is not to defend the rights of the victim, but to punish socially unacceptable ideas. This is a premise that should be abhorrent to a free society."

Thoughts are not a crime, however...expression of certain thoughts may establish the intent to commit crime which can be prosecutable.

Hitler required reporting of anti german attitudes, this is how fascists work. Children reported parents, and parents reported children under the fascists. and everybody reported everybody else. this was also how stalin worked, mussolini and franco followed the same policy. sorry to see that england has succumbed to this. it is very hard to stop.

Who is John Reid? And what country are you referring to? In USA kids can say what ever they want, so can adults. I'm confused.

Not yet, but supporting animal rights as a young child has led to the illegal protests outside labs and the illegal stalking and criminal damage to farms and people involved in the animal industry.

It shows you how this desperate use of fear of terrorism by unpopular gouvernments will turn our democracies into faschist regimes if we are not very careful.
