It amazes me how many people have absolutely no idea about evictions in the UK despite the number of people living in rented accomodation.
Regardless of what your contract may say, a Landlord must give you AT LEAST 2 MONTHS NOTICE.
In addition the notice must expire on the day before a rent due date, e.g. if your rent is due on the 15th of the month and the Landlord serves notice on say the 27th September, he must give 2 months to the 27th November and then the extra days up to the next rent date. So the notice would expire on the 14th December.
Also, a Landlord cannot evict you within 6 months of the start of the tenancy.

It depends on the contract.
We let a flat on an assured shorthold tenancy, and I believe that requires two months' notice from the landlord or one months' from the tenant to terminate it.

it depends i paid 1 months rent and 1 months in advance so my landlord has to give me one months notice

usually 28 days check the your lease and can be shorter depending on whether you grossely broke the rules of your contract talk to citizens advice if in doubt.
