1. The USA has occupied Iraq. The Iraqi ppl are resenting this and want the USA to leave. There is also a civil war in Iraq that has complicated progress there.

2. Israel recently attacked Hezbollah in Lebanon thereby practically destroying Lebanon's infrastructure. In the end, Hezbollah was able to survive and the UN stepped in and mediated a cease fire.

3. Iran has announced it will be implementing its legal right under the IAEA and NPT to enrich uranium for energy purposes. Many countries are not comfortable with this because of Iran's close ties to Syria that supplies weapons to Hezbollah.

4. Turkey, a long time ally to the USA, being the only country to volunteer troops to go to the Israel border for the UN, is starting to second think it's position. The reason is because they have been denied entry into the EU, European Union.

5. Egypt stays pretty quiet except that it has recently come out that secret CIA prisons are in Egypt and were used for torturing prisoners. The term is called rendition. This is causing some conflict between Egypt and nearby neighbors.

6. Jordan remains neutral and out of the conflict.

7. Palestine has been very quiet and low key lately. I am not sure what is going on there atm.

8. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait both remain supportive of the USA but both are being very careful to stay out of the Iraqi conflict.

9. Syria is a hot point. I would say Syria has more balls than any other Middle Eastern country atm, even more than Iran. Syria has close ties to Hezbollah and will not hesitate to get involved with another Israeli conflict if Israel gets close to their border again.

10. Afghanistan is occupied by the USA atm but the USA is losing grip on the new government there. The Taliban actually have made a come back and are back on the rise.

That's about it.

To take a different approach from most of your answers I would look at the Middle East in a historical context. Most of the countries of the Middle East have only existed since the 1920's. Before that they were all part of the Ottoman Empire. At the end of the First World War they were taken over by the allies. i.e. France controlled what is now Syria and Lebanon, Britain contolled what is now Iraq, Israel and Palestine. In the 1920's they were carved up into nation states. The criteria for deciding who would control them was usually based on tribal power and local warlords not a democratic will of the people. As a consequence these nations have developed in many different directions becoming democracies, theocracies, monarchies and dictatorships. While, on the whole, they share a common bond in their religion and the fact that they are Arabs they have little else in common which has always made the concept of a united Arab nation impossible. The only other thing they share is common enemies in Israel and America. The West has encouraged disunity by supporting some countries in preference to others to safeguard the flow of oil. We supported Iran until the revolution and then switched our support to Iraq. We now support Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the smaller Gulf States.
The West seeks a balance of disunity which means all are militarily weak and are less inclined to upset the balance of power.
This is why when Israel invaded Lebanon no other Arab state intervened and this is why Syria and Iran fund terrorism as they do not have a united military might to do anything else.

Frankly speaking in short...Middle East has no real problems of itself....its all been outsourced from the WEST....USA in specific....so go to their history....you will understand everything....or otherwise there is one other word for all this problems and that is OIL. The day oil is finished in Middle East...USA will not even look into this direction and all problems will be solved automatically....Hope the respective govts. understand this. In this situation...the Venzu. prez. is a very tough negotiator for the US....I think he will in future show the US their face with the same coin...until then...lets pray....we the Middle East and Asian Countries....learn history faster and sooner......

to comprehend what is going on interior the middle east, you are able to desire to bypass back hundreds of years earlier the delivery of Christ. The international locations that surrounded the land of Israel have been bitter enemies with Israel earlier the Israelites have been dispersed into Assyria and Chaldea. whilst they back to Israel they have been in bitter battles with Syria. It took Judas Maccabee to win the conflict with Antiochus Epiphanes IV, the Syrian king. Then the Romans got here in and sacked Jerusalem, destroying the temple and scattering the human beings to many diverse lands. They have been scattered from their land for just about 2000 years, and then they began to return, little by little, until in 1948 they have been called a u . s . by the United international locations. The Arabs took over their land whilst they have been scattered, and whilst the time replaced into impressive back back and inhabit the land they had to take it from the Arabs. Then in 1976 there replaced into yet another Syrian/Israel conflict that purely lasted six days. on the wars end, Israel had won administration of the Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the West financial employer, eastern Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights. And the conflict wages on today. grace2u
