A door stopper is anything that stops a door from moving. A common form of unobtrusive door stopper is a small wedge, usually wooden or plastic but sometimes metal, that is placed against an open door to stop it from closing, or (less commonly) against a closed door to stop it from opening. Sorry, I don't know of any literature, I guess there must be some engineering papers on the best sizes, shapes and materials to use. Other than wedges, sometimes people use conspicuous heavy objects, chosen to have some decorative or interest value, such as old bits of iron, rocks, or toy animals filled with lead shot. Again, I don't know of any literature, unless you count an old leather-bound church Bible that I saw propping open a door once! Hope that helps.

When we were kids,a door stopper was a very big sandwich. So called because you had to open your mouth wide to cram it into your mouth to get a bite
