if it is the lack of fresh oxygenated blood to the brain, then why couldn't we pump fresh oxygenated blood to their brain through their juggler vein and any other major veins or arteries and then would the head stay alive??? why haven't we tried this with prisoners of war as an experiment?

Not blood, you'd need to start with something like Ringer's solution, oxygenated, and up the glucose probably. The CNS would certainly not be cooperating. I would say it is possible, but unlikely.

The head, plus the spine, that's another matter.

And who knows it may have been tried.

The cause of death when you are decapitated is shock due to a complete loss of blood pressure, this will kill you faster than a lack of oxygenated blood to the brain or asphyxiation. In theory if at the moment of decapitation you could deliver a supply of pressurised oxygenated blood and in the longer term a source of nutrients for maintenance you should be able to keep the head alive, although it would be very difficult to accomplish.
