I had the same thing with both my kids. I presume you've tried a cushion under your bump to help with comfort? Also try a pillow between your knees as it will ease the pressure.
If you're on maternity leave, and you can't sleep at night, don't worry - just nap in the day if you're tired. You need to build up your strength for the birth.
Try some relaxation techniques - deep breathing, lavender oil on pillow, visualisation etc - perhaps also a relaxation CD/tape.
The very best of luck to you and your baby!

try and nap in the daytime, take things easy now and sit down and rest more during the day. don't feel guilty, just try and sleep when you can, because once the baby arrives, you definitely wont get any sleep then.
i was the same at the end of both my pregnancies, could not sleep, would be walking around the house at 4am.
good luck

I know that rasberry is very good for relaxing
before & during delivery (less pain). Try an organic
rasberry tea before bed, in the morning or an organic
dried rasberry product as well (as long as you're not
allergic to it). Also, it's better not to snack in the
evening--food, ideally, needs to be burned up before
sleeping.
Eye coverings that block the light and ear plugs may
help.
I sleep better with a narrow pillow behind my upper
back supporting me to sleep on my back with my
shoulders back, and another pillow under my knees
to take stress off the lower back.
Putting your hands over your head will feel good
because it shortens the muscles, but also
disturbs circulation, as does 'scrunching'.
Perhaps you may check if your calcium/ magnesium
intake is balanced and being sufficiently absorbed.
(Calcium stimulates the muscles and magnesium
lets them relax).

many women experience difficulty sleeping towards the end of there pregnancy due to being uncomfortable and cannot settle in a position for long, try just having naps in a comfy arm chair through out the day just to keep you going, and maybe a warm bath and chocolate/horlicks drink before bedtime as somebody else has suggested.
best of luck with the new baby

Here are some things that helped me! Lavender and Oatmeal body wash in a hot shower. I also bought a sound machine for about $20 at walmart.com (they also have them in-store). It makes sounds of summer night, waterfalls, rain and heartbeat. You can use it to fall asleep, and after baby is born you can use it on the heartbeat setting to help keep your baby feel soothed. I still use it, 8 years later! Try keeping your feet up in bed. If you sleep on your back, put a few pillows under your calves of your legs to keep feet elevated. It takes a lot of pressure off of your back. I'm a tummy sleeper, so what I did was laid on my tummy, but I brought one knee up to sort of raise me on one side for room for my tummy. You could take a walk after dinner, that helps you get tired, but it makes you feel good too since it's good for both you and baby. One other thing, is I know that if you have problems with your feet aching, get a foot spa.. I bought one for about $20, also at walmart from Homedics (those people are genious), it has heat, massage and a gazillion little bubbles. Another bonus to using one of these, is you could multi-task... and while you're relaxing, (if you don't already have this book, pick it up, very useful information) you could read your "What to expect, when you're expecting" book. I hope that maybe you'll try these and get some good rest before your bundle of joy comes into this world! Good luck, but most of all, good night!

I battled with exactly the same thing from about 24 weeks. Unfortunately there isn't any fool proof tips. I had my hubby rub my back every night with arnica oil and I took rescue (which are herbal tablets which are completely safe and are actually recommended to calm you down.) These things didn't always help. Good Luck, I know how you feel. I want to assure you that it is all worth it in the end!

well its very much necessary that u keep urself calm and relaxed at this time of ur pregnancy.u dont get sleep ...may be b'coz u r tensed up thinking of ur delivery or soo.this is very natural.. women tend to get really tensed up in the last month of their pregnancy with the fear of labor problems....dont worry at all.enjoy this precious time...try to keep urself happy and busy in come creative works which gives u pleasure...just lie down and relax every 2 hours or whenever u like..this will calm ur mind and relax u ..at night if u are having sleep problems then try having hot milk before going to bed ...this really helps induce sleep...best of luck!may u have a healthy and a beautiful baby.

I know just how you feel as i am a week to due date and find it difficult my self. But i have found that a relaxing bath with jasmine and lavender helps me to relax then a nice cool bed with a hot cup of chocolate and plenty of pillows can help to make you drift off. you could also try a warm wheat bag behind the nape of your neck, to help relax and sooth you to sleep. Burning essential oils such as lavender, neroli, petitgrain and tangerine can help relieve the symptoms of sleepless nights and insomnia or blend a few 2 of the oils with some grapeseed oil and ask your partner to massage it over your bump and back area to help you relax and drift off. ( remember only to use a few drops of oil 2 of each will be enough to a good 10mls of grapeseed oil) another good tip is if using the lavender in your blend will help with stretch marks. hope my little bit of advice has helped.
