I agree with the person that suggested the kid should be brought to a drug rehab to see what drugs can do to people. If you try to keep him away from the friends that influenced him to do it, he will just find a way to see them anyway. And if you just ground him, he will probably just be more careful to not get caught next time. He needs to see what drugs can do to people. I don't really agree that pot is a gateway drug, but when you're talking about a 14 year old, it's different. His thinking might be that he took a chance trying out smoking pot and it was fun so why not snort a line of coke with his friends. You've got to show him what drugs do to people and then maybe he'll stop hanging around the bad influences on his own. Another option would be to take away something really important to him, like a sport if he plays one. Good luck!

Ground him for about a month, take away his phone, tv etc. I know a lot of people on here are saying that you should send him to a rehab class etc. In my opinion they just make everything worse, the court sent me to one when i was younger and i ended up having access to more drugs b/c of it. Maybe have him do a certain amount of volunteer hours at a soup kitchen, And take away his $!!!!!! good luck! but don't worry i think everyone has smoked weed once and awhile---i know i did my fair share and i turned out okay....

get the police called on him and get arrested. then maybe that will teach him to never smoke pot again. and what ever other punishments his parents want to give him such as no friends for a month right to school and back, no computer or phone.

Drug rehabilitation (often shortened to drug rehab or just rehab) is an umbrella term for the processes of medical and/or psychotherapeutic treatment, for dependency on psychoactive substances such as alcohol, prescription drugs , and so-called street drugs such as cocaine, heroin or amphetamines. The obvious intent is to enable the patient to cease their previous level of abuse, for the sake of avoiding its psychological, legal, social, and physical consequences, especially in extreme abuse.
rather than attempts at moderation, which may lead to relapse are also emphasized ("One drink is too many; one hundred drinks is not enough.") Whether moderation is achievable by persons with a history of abuse remains a controversial point but is generally considered unsustainable.
There are various types of programs that offer help in drug rehabilitation, including: residential treatment (in-patient), out-patient, local support groups, extended care centers, and sober houses.
Drug rehabilitation is sometimes part of the criminal justice system. People convicted of minor drug offenses may be sentenced to rehabilitation instead of prison, and those convicted of driving while intoxicated are sometimes required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings

You should be brought to a drug rehab to volunteer and learn what this stuff can do to your life. Pot isn't such a bad drug when compared to the other substances out there but what I saw in school among my friends who used - one led to another. I know this isn't always the case but it is a problem.

my friend was having problems with the oldest child, girl
the girl came home and found everything removed from her room except, bed, desk, dresser and basic clothing. she had computer for homework only. no radio no TV no CD player & no phone. she could not watch TV or go intternet excep supervised. her mom assigned points to each item and she had to earn each thing back by grades, chores, obedience etc. it worked pretty good cause it is couple of years later and the problem has not come back.

Well, you should talk to him and tell him that using drugs will mess up his life and he is too young to have his life messed up. Tell him that most people who are in prison is there because of drugs. The best thing is not to punish him, teach him and he will learn. The punishment will only cause him to rebel and cause him to get into more touble.

Help out at the local psychiatric ward, so as to understand schizophrenia and all the other drug related mental problems in later life, that stem from recreational drug experimentation in youth.
