Those sports fans who tend to blindly believe that the objects of their manias are better than they really are, and who resent (and take personally) any kind of criticism, desperately need a life to call their own. I mean face it Kobe IS selfish; that's a sentiment seconded by many other NBA watchers, including several of Bryant's coaches.

Please, Micheal and Larry may have had the ball in their hands most of the time but they were not completely unwilling to give it up. Would Kobe give the game winner to someone else like Jordan (his pass to Kerr) or Bird (his steal and then passing it off for the layup)? Was Kobe able to make anyone on his team except Kobe better?

I mean, my favorite player is Vince Carter but I have no problem saying he has a lot of things he needs to do to get better. He could be tougher and play through injuries, improve his defense, take better shots, and don't settle for outside shots all the time. I realize that he is getting older and isn't the same VC as in the past (Ben Wallace and Shaq fans listen!). But to some people they are completely blind to their favorite player, as in they think they are completely perfect.

In the Phoenix series this past season, Kobe kept with the very much publicized game plan of pounding the ball into Lamar Odom, Luke Walton, and Kwame Brown, sacrificing his own shot attempts. Is that selfish? When in game 7 he did the same and took only two shots in the second half, he was still derided as "selfish." Kobe gets crucified whatever he does. By the way, Kobe has a career average of 4 plus assists per game, only slightly less than the great MJ himself. A great "unselfish" player like MJ ought to have tons of assists more than "ultimate selfish" Kobe, doesn't he? Somehow it doesn't seem to be that way. Also, can a "selfish" player be a facilitator/initiator (point guard) in the Triangle offense as Kobe was, and still win three consecutive titles if he didn't play proper team ball? Kobe can be selfish at times, who isn't? But for Kobe haters to say that Kobe is always selfish is just plain ignorance.

I think that whenever a player is on your favorite team you blindly support the person. As a Kings fan during the Lakers run, I always said that Shaq got away with offensive fouls all the time. But if Shaq was on the Kings would I still be complaining? Of course not. If Lakers fan lose Kobe they may see him for being a bit of a ballhog, although I will argue that if you were Kobe and playing with far less talented players (which is usually 95% of the league, but especially in the case of his current squad), you would be less trustworthy of your teammates when you believe you can make a shot. I think we all get caught up a little too much in sports, so much so that a player on our favorite team is like a friend who we feel the need to protect, lest we betray our devotion to the team.

you obviously do not know anything about anything. there's a difference between selfishness and just taking charge of a game because you have to. the lakers are young and if kobe doesn't do what he's doing, the lakers would be in the lottery. plain and simple. bird and jordan are great players that had great teams behind them. if you did your homework, you would know that jordan was being just as "selfish" as kobe is back in the day when he didn't have his supporting cast. and were you watching vince carter back when he was playing for the raptors? homeboy was doing the same thing. none of these guys are selfish. they're all just great players that know when they need to take over. kobe just has to do it more. get it straight

Was Michael Jordan or Larry Bird selfish? Do you even know who these players were?
Kobe is the best player in the NBA, PERIOD!!! When it's crunch time, who should get the ball??? Who put up 60 points in three quarters against the cry baby Mavericks?
You can call him selfish if U want, but he has good reason.

IM NOT A LAKERS FAN BUT KOBE ISN'T SELFISH. I MEAN WHEN YOU HAVE A TEAM THAT SUCKS AS BAD AS THEY DO, THERE AIN'T NO ONE YOU CAN DEPEND ON BUT KOBE, I MEAN HE SCORED 80 POINTS IN ONE GAME AND 60 SOMETHING IN ANOTHER, THAT ISN'T SELFISH. ASIDE FROM HIS PERSONAL LIFE KOBE IS 'IGHT AS A PERSON AND A TALENTED PLAYER. HE'S THE ONLY ONE ON THAT TEAM WHO CAN ACTUALLY PRODUCE POINTS, AND OBVIOUSLY WITHOUT SHAQ THEY AREN'T GOING ANYWERE SO WHO ELSE ARE THEY GONNA LOOK AT?

he cares only about his shooting.
his percentage sucks. Nash is better in every catergory except points. and kobe has 1 rebound more. he also plays 6 minutes longer and is 4 inches taller.....
true=== kobe is a ball hog that cant win.....
cares only about himself

he is not the first that score 35 pts per game and that was the only way to lead his team to the playoffs.
