Liao Zhai comes from the title of a book by Pu Songling and it's original title was "Liao Zhai Zhi Yi". The title itself means "Strange stories remembered from schoolroom chats" and the book is a collection of strange stories involving supernatural creatures e.g. ghosts.
While it seems like the Chinese version of Tales from the Crypt, the book is unique in that each story has a moral statement to make about real life situations and encounters. Many of the stories are in fact inspired by the author's own encounters with life's disappointments.

The name " liao zhai " is mean the ghost story that come from China thousands year ago , if the show named " liao zhai " , that mean this show is contain about ghost story about China .
